SHEIKHUPURA, Aug 16: Dacoits injured several people in three strikes in which they targeted vehicles on road and a train in city and Muridke Saddar police stations' precincts late Sunday night.

They also stopped the family of Haji Umar Farooq, the president of the paper market on the Ganpat Road, Lahore, which was going to Lahore from Islamabad by a car (LRS-4552).

On resistance, they shot at and injured the trader's wife and children, besides taking away Rs35,000 in cash and valuables. Nearly 20 armed men, who had barricaded the GT Road near Pacca stop, deprived passengers of two buses and coasters of cash, ornaments and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Some of them resisted and were shot at and injured. The injured, including Imran, Ghafoor, Asif and Arif, were taken to hospital. Meanwhile, 20 armed men opened fire on a train (105 UP-0105-A), which was on its way to Rawalpindi from Lahore. The last bogie of the train came under firing, but no passenger was occupying it. Police are investigating.

MISSING TRIPLETS: Police have failed to find any clue to the triplets, who went missing after an accident of a coaster in which they were born, almost a week ago. Their mother, Maryam Bibi, went unconscious and was taken to the Mayo Hospital, Lahore.

Reports said Maryam Bibi, a resident of Daska (Sialkot), gave birth to triplets in a coaster near Shamke on the GT Road. The woman was on her way to Lahore by the coaster, which overturned while trying to overtake a bus. At least 10 passengers suffered grievous injuries and the woman's condition deteriorated. She gave birth to three thanks to some women inside the vehicle.

Lying unconscious, the woman was taken to the Mayo Hospital where she learnt that her triplets had gone missing. Doctors at the hospital told her that only she was admitted.

Officials of Ferozewala police station and the National Highway said they did not find any new born at the place of accident. Ferozewala police are making efforts to recover the missing children.
