KHAIRPUR, Aug 5: A ceremony for appointment of the Sajjada Nasheen of Dargah Ranipur was held at the Dastagir House, Ranipur, on Thursday and attended by notables, political leaders, sitting and former ministers, MNAs, and MPAs.

This was the second such ceremony for the same shrine in about a week. Claimant Ghulam Ghous Jilani alias Bagan Shah, son of deceased Miran Shah Jilani, was brought there by hundreds of his disciples and offered the Baghdadi Pag (turban) of the Sajjada Nasheen, Baghdadi Talwar (sword) and other paraphernalia.

The occasion also marked the death anniversary of the former Sajjada Nasheen, Miran Shah, and the Chehlum of Ghazi Shah Jilani. In his speech, Bagan Shah said that he was the rightful heir and Sajjada Nasheen of the shrine. He read out a document, written by elders of the Jilani family, that nominated him the Sajjada Nasheen.

Strict security measures were adopted and Rangers personnel as well as police were deployed at all main points besides the Dastagir House. It may be recalled here that the first ceremony in this regard was held at the residence of the other claimant, Pir Abdul Qadir Shah Jilani, on July 30 in which he had worn the turban of the Sajjada Nasheen.
