SHEIKHUPURA, Aug 1: Three members of a family died of suffocation while removing silt from a well on Sunday. At Sharqpur Khurd, Ameer Ali (55), his son Imran Ali (13) and brother Khushi Muhammad (48) were removing silt from the well when they fell unconscious.

They were removed to the Lahore Mayo Hospital where the doctors pronounced them dead. In another incident, Siddique and Faqeer of the same family died of food poisoning in the jurisdiction of factory area police.

ACCIDENT: Three people died while 12 sustained injuries in a road accident here on Sunday on the GT Road. Reports said a speeding Gujranwala-bound passenger wagon (AJKE-6321) rammed into a road-side tree. As a result Rahmat, Amjad and an unidentified man died on the spot.

The four critically injured identified as Basharat, Shamim Bibi, Subay Khan and Ishfaque, were referred to the General Hospital. Others were shifted to Muridke and Kamoke hospitals.

ROBBED: An employee of Jang Group was robbed by five masked dacoits here on Sunday. Reports said Tahir Islam was on his way to a wagon stand when the bandits snatched Rs4,700, a mobile phone and other documents.

VACATIONS: All civil courts in the city and Nankana Sahib and Ferozewala tehsils will remain closed by August 13 for summer vacations. However, an additional district & sessions judge and a civil judge will perform duties.
