Maulana Ajmal passes away

LAHORE, May 21: The patron-in-chief of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam and the founding member of the party, Maulana Ajmal Khan, died of liver and renal failure here on Tuesday.

He had been hospitalized for the past two months, and died at the Ittefaq Hospital.

The maulana was a comrade of Maulana Mufti Mahmood and was considered an important elder of the party.

His funeral prayers will be offered at 8am on Wednesday at the ground behind the Punjab Assembly.

He will be buried at his ancestral village in Haripur Hazara.
