ABBOTTABAD, July 6: Abbottabad District Nazim Mustafa Jadoon presented Rs1.1billion annual budget for the Abbotabad district on Tuesday with no allocation for any development project or new scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jadoon said no fund was available for development new projects and schemes as Rs942.04 million had been allocated for payment of salaries of the employees of the Abbottabad District Council which was 84.89 per cent of the total budget.

The budget session was presided over by Barrister Javed Abbasi. He said in the development sector funds had been allocated only for ongoing schemes and projects. He said Rs63 million was allocated for the ongoing developmental schemes while Rs6.8 million would be spent through CCB (Citizens Community Board).

The district nazim informed the council that the ADC was expecting Rs14.768 million from government in octori and Rs27.260 million from the provincial financial commission. Besides this, he said, the council was expected to generate Rs6.304 million from district tax and from other sources.

About areas of focus in the budget, Mr Jadoon said that education had been given the top priority and under the National ESR scheme, Rs7.370 million would be spent and for sports, two per cent funds had been set aside.
