NEW DELHI July 4: India has short-listed four armaments companies for the purchase of Responsive Jammers, to be installed along the Line of Control in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

The companies, short-listed in the defence public sector undertaking include ECIl and Thales and Israeli firms ELTA and Tadiran, bidding for the project of Responsive Jammers, to be deployed all along the LoC in Held Kashmir said a news report.

With French armaments giant Thales emerging as the front runner for the supply of low-level transportable radars for the Indian Air Force, it is also bidding for the sale of Responsive Jammers to India.

The company has emerged as a major contender for supply of Responsive Jammers and electronic warfare systems for low- intensity conflict under 'Project Suraj', said a release of the company here.

Thales, which had earlier along with Israeli company ELTA and Tadiran bagged a contract for over Indian Rs 900 million for the sale of hand-held thermals, is among the four bidders for the supply of the Responsive Jammers.

The company is likely to conclude a contract for supply of 19 low-level transportable radars for the IAF to be located at key locations along the border for detection of low-flying aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles, both in the plains and in the mountains, added the report further saying, technical and commercial negotiations have been completed. -APP
