HYDERABAD, June 10: The controller of examinations, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, has announced results of B.Sc-I, college side, annual examination of 2003. A total number of 1,401 candidates out of 2,311 were declared pass in the examination.
The pass percentage remained 60.62. As many as 757 candidates were declared fail in various subjects, 24 candidates were reported for copying, results of 52 candidates were held due to objection by the conduct branch and results of two candidates were cancelled for different reasons.
CAMPUS NETWORK: Ninety-five per cent work on the Rs31 million campus area network project at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, has been completed and the project will be handed over to the university's Institute of Information Technology by June 25.
A spokesman for the university said on Thursday that the project was funded by the Higher Education Commission. Twelve departments of the university have been connected with the campus network through optical fibre and seven other departments are being connected through unshielded twisted pair copper category-7 cable.
Through this network, Internet facility has been provided to various departments, including the faculty of education which is housed at the old campus in Hyderabad.
LUMHS: The controller of examinations, Liaquat University of Medical and Health, Jamshoro, has announced that practical and viva-voce of postgraduate diploma in dermatology will be held on June 26.
The controller also announced results of examinations of M.S final, orthopaedics and paediatrics, M.S, orthopaedics, M.S gynaecology and obstetrics, diploma in gynaecology and obstetrics and diploma in ororhinolaryngology, part-I.
CONDOLENCE: Eminent scholars and educationists of Sindh, including Mohammad Ibrahim Joyo, Prof Aijaz Qureshi, Prof Mushtaq Meerani, Prof Aslam Uqaili and Yousuf Laghari, have expressed grief over the murder of Dr Rafiq Memon, son of noted scholar M. H. Panhwar, in the US.
In a joint condolence message to the bereaved family, they demanded that US and Pakistani governments should take necessary steps for the arrest of the murderers.
