SAN FRANCISCO, June 8: Anti-war protesters on Tuesday denounced torture of Iraqi prisoners at the Abu Ghraib jail and called for an early return of US troops from Iraq.

The rally was part of a week-long demonstrations against the US occupation of Iraq and Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories. Speakers said the outrage over the abuse of Iraqis at Abu Ghraib prison had caused many Americans to question US involvement in Iraq.

"As the sheer brutality of the occupation of Iraq becomes well-known, more and more people, including rank-and-file GI's, are turning against the Bush agenda of endless war," they added.
