GUJRAT, June 7: District Nazim Chaudhry Shafaat Husain ordered on Monday an inquiry against some education department officials, including deputy education officer , who have allegedly usurped the dues of a PTC teacher.

Reports said Kharian tehsil member Chaudhry Asif Dhama met the Nazim and informed him that Muhammad Nadeem, a PTC teacher at the Government Middle School, Madina Syedan, had been deprived of his dues by some officials of the education department.

In a written application submitted to the Nazim, the teacher claimed that he, along with other PTC teachers of the district, was terminated from service in 1999. He said he was reinstated after four years by the Supreme Court, which also directed the education department to pay his dues.

When he submitted a bill of Rs203,821, he said, headmaster Muhammad Sharif started intimidating him and forcibly got his signature on a blank cheque after snatching his cheque book. The headmaster and another employee, Akram Butt, drew the mentioned amount from a bank, the teacher alleged.

He further alleged that Deputy Education Officer Pervez Akhtar gave him Rs20,000 and threatened to terminate him if he demanded the remaining dues. He demanded of the district Nazim to look into the matter and help him in getting his dues back.

Directed by the Nazim, DCO Chaudhry Saadat Ali has deputed DO (Revenue) Altaf Husain Kazmi and DO (Accounts) Shamim Shah as inquiry officers. The Kharian tehsil member quoted EDO (Education) Mehar Bashir Ahmad as saying that the matter was in his knowledge and he had already ordered a probe against the deputy education officer.

He also quoted him as claiming that the department had detected two more cases of similar kind in which the same official was involved.
