NAWABSHAH, May 27: Excise police recovered 240kgs of charas from a Sanghar-bound truck, near here, on Thursday and arrested two persons. On a tip-off, inspector Aijaz Awan intercepted a truck at the Sanghar road and, on searching, recovered 240kg of charas.

Driver Mohammad Gulsher and friend Mohammad Ishaq, residents of Quetta, were also arrested. The excise police have impounded the truck.

ARRESTS: Crime Investigation Cell police arrested two persons and recovered two handguns and a motorcycle near the stadium here late on Wednesday night. A CIC party intercepted a motorcycle at the Stadium road and recovered two pistols and a motorcycle, stolen from the court premises on May 17.

Accused Akbar Panhwar and Anwar Chandio reportedly told the police that they were involved in several such cases.

PROTEST: Growers blocked the National Highway at Qazi Ahmed on Thursday in protest over the shortage of water. Dozens of growers from the Malwah branch and Jeddo Minor observed a sit-in on the National Highway at Qazi Ahmed. The growers alleged that officials were selling water to influential landlords.
