GUJRAT, May 19: Two of the nominated accused involved in Madina Syedan murders disappeared mysteriously from the Gujrat Saddar police station lock-up on Wednesday.

Sources claimed that the police arrested five of the nominated accused, including Rafique Shah, his two sons Ajmal Abbas Shah and Islam Ali Shah, Ghazanfar Abbas and Sher Haider Shah, and detained them in lock-up.

Ajmal and Islam, two brothers, disappeared from the lock-up, the sources said, pointing out that someone at the police station helped them escape after accepting a huge sum.

A local radio station (FM-105) also broadcast the same story on Wednesday. Moharrar Mubashar told Dawn on telephone that the police arrested only Rafique, Sher Haider and Ghazanfar while the two brothers were still at large. He admitted that radio station had initially broadcast the same story, but later broadcast the police version.
