SHEIKHUPURA, May 13: A boy died here on Thursday after he fell from a bus on the Jandiala-Jhabran Road. However, his family alleged that he had died due to negligence of the doctor at the District Headquarters Hospital.

Reports said Nazir Masih was sitting atop a bus when his clothes got entangled in thick branches of tree and he fell down on the road. Grievously injured, he was admitted to the DHQ Hospital's emergency ward where the paramedical staff provided him first-aid, but he died after some time.

The family quoted one of the staffers as saying that Dr Farrukh Hameed, who was supposed to be on duty, was asleep at his private room. They said the injured boy died due to excessive bleeding.

Later, the aggrieved family and paramedical staff of the hospital took out a protest rally against the negligence of the doctor. They demanded the health department higher-ups to initiate an impartial inquiry against the medical superintendent for breach of duty.
