MUZAFFARABAD, May 6: Non-gazetted employees observed a pen-down strike throughout Azad Kashmir on Thursday on a call of the All Pakistan Clerks Association to press the federal and AJK governments to accept their demands.

The striking employees took out processions from their offices which culminated at the old civil secretariat where their leaders delivered speeches calling upon the two governments to implement the APCA charter of demand.

The federal government should raise the salaries of non-gazetted employees proportionate to sky rocketing prices of essential commodities and revive the selection grade, the speakers said.

They urged the AJK government to provide the profit of GPF to the employees on the pattern of the Punjab government. They threatened that the employees would hold another round of strike on May 13 when all the offices would be closed.
