MIANWALI, April 1: District Police Officer Dr Shakeel Mirza has suspended the staff of all three teams deputed to patrol the Mianwali-Sargodha Road at night in the wake of a robbery on Wednesday night.

The suspended officials include Havaldar Ijaz Hussain, Constables Amir Alam, Abdul Sattar, Ziaul Haq and driver Muhammad Iqbal of the Elite Force, ASI Muhammad Yaqub, Constables Abdullah and Habibullah and driver Muhammad Ishfaq of the Sadar Police Station and ASI Madad Khan, Constables Raza Muhammad and Fateh Khan and driver Sikander Khan of the Wan Bhachran Police Station.

Four highwaymen had looted the passengers of a bus (KB-9713) coming from Sargodha after forcing it to stop near the Wan Bhachran Rural Health Centre and taking it to a deserted place on the Jhamatanwala Road.

The Wan Bhachran police have registered a case. Vehicles are frequently targeted by highwaymen in the hilly areas of Wan Bhachran and Musakhel. Police mention a nominal looted amount in the FIR and hardly ever bother to run after the culprits.
