DERA ISMAIL KHAN, April 1: The government has earmarked Rs22 million for various drinking water schemes in Dera Ismail Khan. This was announced by Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro and Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan at an open katchery here on Thursday.

District Nazim Latifullah Khan Alizai and other union council Nazims were also present on the occasion.

The Senate chairman announced an amount of Rs2 million for drinking water schemes in Damaan area of D.I. Khan district, while Senator Waqar Ahmed announced Rs20 million for execution of drinking water schemes and repair of tubewells in the area.

Earlier, talking to journalists, Mohammedmian Soomro urged tribal elders to cooperate with the government in flushing out terrorists from tribal areas. He said the military operation in Wana should not be politicized as it would be harmful for the country.

The Senate chairman maintained that foreign terrorists were a threat to the national integrity which must be eliminated. He added that the government was taking all possible measures to save the country from terrorism.
