KARACHI, March 21: Pakistan's Meherullah, Sohail Ahmad and Nisar Ahmad qualified for the quarterfinals of boxing qualifying round for Olympics in Guangzhou, China on Sunday.

Meherullah thrashed Sri Lanka's Nanju Wanniarachchi 24-11, Sohail beat Mereniyazov Ishankuli from Turkmenistan, and Nisar defeated Afghanistan's Basharmal Sultani.

Another Pakistani Faisal Kareem lost to Yang Hyum Tae of Korea 28-38. Ahmad Ali Khan of Pakistan has already reached last eight stage. Noman Kareem and Asghar Ali Shah have also qualified for Olympics earlier this year.

Results:

54kg: Meherullah (Pak) bt Nanju Wanniarachchi (Sri) 24-11.

57kg: Sohail Ahmad (Pak) bt Mereniyazov Ishankuli (Tkm) 28-23.

64kg: Faisal Kareem (Pak) lost to Yang Hyun-Tae (Kor) 20-38.

69kg: Nisar Ahmad (Pak) bt Basharmal Sultani (Afg). -PPI
