DADU, May 17: One person died and 20 people fell unconscious in different parts of Dadu District as the mercury rose to 47 degrees Celsius on Friday.

The residents of several towns including Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah, Phulji, Sita Road, Radhan, Dadu, Johi, Sehwan, and Bhan Saeedabad experienced a hot day.

A 40-year-old man, whose name could not be ascertained, fell unconscious and died in front of the Mazar of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.

Besides, at least 20 people fell unconscious in different areas of the district. Most of them were children.

DEVELOPMENT SCHEMES: As many as 140 development schemes including the construction of schools, roads, water supply and drainage will be completed at a cost of Rs112 million during the current financial year in Dadu District under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme Phase-III.

This was stated by the district Nazim, Malik Asad Sikandar, while addressing a meeting of the officials and Taluka Nazims of the district on Friday.

He warned the contractors to improve the quality of the work.

He said that the delay in completion of the schemes would not be tolerated, and stern action would be taken against those involved.

BAIL GRANTED: The second additional sessions judge, Dadu, on Friday granted bail to the JSQM chairman, Basheer Khan Qureshi, and its vice chairman, Dr Niaz Ahmed Kalani, in two sedition cases.

The cases had been registered against them on the occasion of the death anniversary of the founder of the Jeay Sindh Tehrik, the late G.M. Syed.

The judge granted bail to each for a sum of Rs50,000.
