SIALKOT: Robber killed in 'encounter'

SIALKOT, Jan 18: A robber was killed on Saturday night in an encounter with the Phalora police on Dhamthal Road, Pasrur tehsil.

Sources said that six armed robbers were looting passers-by by creating a picket when a police patrol party led by ASI Javaid reached there. Seeing police, the robbers opened fire on them. The police also retaliated, killing one of the robbers on the spot while his accomplices managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness.

The deceased robber was identified as Rafique alias Mirza. Police claimed that the deceased robber was wanted in several cases of dacoity, robbery and theft.

TWO BROTHERS KILLED: Two brothers were shot dead on Saturday night by assailants over an old enmity in Joshan Jattan-Phalora village, Pasrur tehsil. The brothers were asleep at their outhouse when Ishaq alias Sanu and his accomplices came there and opened fire on them. Both of them died on the spot.
