KOHAT: Official kidnapped in Hangu

KOHAT, Feb 18: Unidentified armed persons picked up a senior official of population welfare department from his office in Hangu city on late Tuesday night.

Officials said that the watchman told police that six armed men came in vehicles and forcibly opened the door of the office-cum-residence of assistant director of population welfare department, Habibur Rehman. They tied him up and took him away along with three official vehicles including ambulance and generator at gun point, the watchman added.

The kidnapped official is a resident of Bhakhar district of Punjab. The city police have registered a case against unidentified kidnappers and started investigations.

LIQUOR-MAKER ABDUCTED: Local Taliban abducted a liquor-maker and seized drums of alcohol in Shindhand area of Kohat Frontier Region on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses said that a group of Taliban came and abducted Khan Bad Shah, who used to prepare and sell liquor for the last several years.

Later Taliban visited the village again and raided his house. They took away a Toyota car of Khan Bad Shah and all equipment used in preparing of liquor.

Taliban said that they had been receiving complaints against Mr Shah from the local people but police did take any action against him for obvious reasons.

He prepared and transported liquor to Kohat district under the nose of political authorities and the police, they added.
