HYDERABAD, Jan 27: It was a day of appreciation of services of the Sindh governor and Karachi City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal as the Hyderabad district council members, including those belonging to PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel (ADP), sung hymns here on Tuesday in praise of them, saying the two represent the coalition partners of President Asif Ali Zardari-led PPP government.

The house didn’t take any other item on agenda. The council which had earlier invited City Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal to visit Hyderabad again invited him and Sindh governor to address council members which would host a reception in their honour.

Convener Zafar Ali Rajput called for forming a committee to finalise a programme.

The house offered fateha for renowned archaeologist, historian and linguist, Dr. Ahmed Hassan Dani and others.

The house took up a resolution of Nasima Khan, praising services of the Sindh governor.

Mohammad Ali Gohar said that Sindh governor didn’t differentiate when it came to serving people of Sindh while Nasir Baloch said that the governor had a strong grip on provincial administration which was reflective from the fact that when he was appointed governor the province was going through a critical phase.

PPP-backed ADP’s Mehboob Abro also rose to appreciate services of Sindh governor and said: “Governor enjoys confidence of President Asif Ali Zardari which is reflective of strong coalition of PPP and MQM.” He said that success always come the way of those who believed in ideology and philosophy of Altaf Hussain, who always preached realism and practicalism. He said that Mustafa Kamal’s services had been acknowledged everyone today.

Another PPP-backed member Sajida Baloch also paid tributes to services of Mustafa Kamal. “No one can deny that massive development has taken place in Karachi”, she said.

Winding-up debate, Dr. Arif Razmi hailed the speeches made by ADP backed members to set a new and positive tone in the house by lauding services of governor and Karachi’s city nazim.

“It will go a long way to bridge the gap between the two communities”, he said. He said that Sindh needed love between its people to strengthen the country. “We need to follow the poetry of Sufi Shah Inayat, Sachal Sarmast and Jamiluddin Aali”, he said.
