HYDERABAD, Dec 7: A number of Sindhi nationalist leaders belonging to different parties met on Saturday to discuss ways of uniting all parties, which had emerged following divisions in G.M. Syed’s Jeay Sindh.

The central general secretary of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (Arisar group), Riaz Chandio, chairman of Jeay Sindh Mahaz, Rasool Bux Thebo, and general secretary Mansoor Khaskheli agreed in principle to strive for forging unity among all Jeay Sindh groups and decided to hold a meeting of the groups on Dec 19.

They said that Sindh’s natural resources were being plundered and main cities of the province were being taken over by ‘terrorists’.

They observed that the present government, which had come to power with the support of Sindhi people was watching excesses against the province as a silent spectator.

There are more than half a dozen splinter groups of Jeay Sindh, which include JSM (Thebo), JSM (Junejo), JSQM (Qureshi), JSQM (Arisar), JSMM, JST and JSQP. They all believe in the ideology of G.M. Syed.

JSQM: The central executive committee of JSQM (Qureshi) on Sunday expressed concern over Mumbai carnage and Karachi killings and decided to convene an All-Party Conference to discuss ways and means to protect Sindhis from possible terrorist attacks.

The committee which met under the party chairman Basheer Khan Qureshi urged Sindhi people to play due role in the Karachi affairs. Sindhis had been exponents of peace for thousands of years and international terrorism and fundamentalism were matters of grave concern for them, he said.

It was high time they played their due role to stem this tide, he advised.

Our Mirpurkhas correspondent adds: The elections of Jeay Sindh Tehreek were held at a meeting of the national congress of the JST here on Sunday. The congress also approved the constitution of the Tehreek.

According to a press release issued here on Sunday, Dr Mir Alam Mari has been elected as president for the next four years.
