KARACHI, Sept 8: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has expressed serious concern over what he called a plan to sell national assets of Sindh to raise money to meet the shortfall in the country’s balance of payments and trade deficit.

In a statement issued from London on Monday, he called upon president-elect Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the ‘conspiracy’ and stop the process forthwith

Referring to a US newspaper report about the proposed sale, the MQM chief said the people of Sindh should oppose the plan.

Mr Hussain also asked members of the Sindh assembly to adopt a resolution against the conspiracy.

He called upon various political forces and permanent residents of Sindh to chalk out plans to hold peaceful demonstrations to stop sale of assets of the province.
