Soldier killed in Bajaur

KHAR, Aug 5: A paramilitary soldier was killed in a clash between local Taliban and Arang tribesmen in the Uthmankhel area of Bajaur agency on Tuesday.

Sources said that the Taliban had occupied a levies checkpost and the tribe asked them to vacate it and leave the area.

While they were arguing someone opened fire and a gunbattle ensued in which a levies soldier was killed. The exchange of fire continued till late in the evening.

The local Taliban had occupied two other checkposts in the area some time ago but later vacated them.
