KARACHI, July 23: Three young brothers were shot dead and their two siblings were injured on Wednesday at their Pathan Colony house over personal enmity, police and witnesses said.

They said that four to five attackers stormed into the house of Khaista Fanoosh and opened indiscriminate fire at around 1.30pm.

The witnesses said that Fanoosh’s three sons — Umer Sadid, 25, Umer Farooq, 28, and Mohammed Sadiq, 30 — were killed instantly.

They said the victims’ younger brother, Mohammed Umer, and their 20-year-old sister, Zahida, were also injured in the attack.

Site police registered a case (FIR 500/08) against Khalid Dad and his accomplices on the complaint of injured Umer.

The SP of Site Town, Ather Rasheed Butt, told Dawn that the victims had beaten prime suspect Khalid Dad at around 12 noon for teasing their sister. “Following this, the suspect returned with friends and resorted to revengeful killing,” he added.

He said that both the suspect and the victims hailed from the NWFP. “The suspect also lives in the same neighbourhood,” he added. He said that efforts were being made to track down the absconding suspects.

The bodies and the injured were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where sources said the three dead brothers had received multiple bullets wounds in the upper torso.

They said the injured siblings received minor wounds in the firing and they were in a stable condition.
