NAWABSHAH, June 20: The Nawabshah police have failed to arrest police officials booked in a case of keeping a man in illegal detention while a suspended SHO is still on duty in a police station.

Jam Sahib SHO Rasool Bux Jamali, head constable Ghulam Rasool Kumbhar and constables Noor Mohammed and Mir Mohammed had been booked under Section 220, 342, 384 of PPC at Qazi Ahmed police station on the directives of the district and sessions judge for arresting an innocent man, Bilawal, and keeping him in illegal detention.

However, Qazi Ahmed police did not arrest any of the nominated accused in the case and the SHO and other policemen were still on duty at the Jam Sahib police station.

Meanwhile, Bandhi SHO Inamullah Awan had been suspended by District Police Officer Rukhsar Khuhawar for torturing a man, Ghulam Mustafa Jamali, in police lock-up.

The DPO announced the suspension of the SHO at a press conference of DIG Hyderabad at his office on Wednesday.

However, Awan is still working as SHO of Bandhi police station.

When SHO Bandhi Inamullah Awan was contacted he admitted that he was working as SHO of the Bandhi police.

He further said that allegations levelled against him for torturing Ghulam Mustafa Jamali were baseless and he neither arrested nor he tortured him.

The DPO of Nawabshah, Rukhsar Khuhawar, told Dawn that the SHO was suspended for sure. When asked whether any other official has replaced him, he said that no officer had been posted as yet.

About the arrest and action against the SHO of Jam Sahib and other officials, he said that police would conduct an enquiry into the matter and if they were found guilty, action would be taken.

KIDNAPPING: Nawabshah police booked four people in a kidnapping case of a girl here on Thursday.

Ghulam Mustafa Dahiri, resident of Asghar Colony Nawabshah lodged an FIR at A-section police station stating that a man, Sajid Arain, had sent a proposal to marry his daughter Rizwana.

He claimed that when he refused, Sajid along with his three friends kidnapped his daughter.

A-Section police booked Sajid Arain, Tanveer Ali, Wajid Ali and Atta Mohammed under Section 34 and 496/A of PPC.
