LARKANA, June 14: Candi-dates for jobs in police force who have crossed the age limit of 25 years are being stopped from submitting applications for recruitment as constable. Larkana police had been receiving such applications.

When this correspondent visited police headquarters on Saturday, many candidates complained that their applications were not being entertained because of the age barrier though the Sindh government had relaxed it for 10 years.

A continuous ban on employment deprived the educated youth of an opportunity as during all these years they kept edging towards age barrier, while the Sindh government came to their rescue by announcing 10 years’ relaxation in limit. Candidates even showed Feb-ruary 19, 2008 notification with the signature of Shah Nawaz Section Officer-II of Services, General Administration and Coordination Department.

District Police Officer (DPO) Larkana Sultan Khwaja told ‘Dawn’ that he was following the policy of high-ups - the DIG Headquarters and DIG Training and Inspection. He said so far he had not received instructions to accept applications of candidates crossing the upper age limit of 25 years.

Therefore, he declined to do anything in it this regard. The candidates maintained that when the existing notification was not superseded it made the earlier notification valid so their applications should be entertained.
