KARACHI, May 13: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), as part of its efforts to check unauthorised retailers of cellular phones’ SIMs, with the help of the Sindh police conducted raids at various unauthorised outlets on Tuesday.

They were found selling SIM cards in complete disregard of the procedures laid down by the PTA.

Raids were conducted in Patel Para, Lasbella, Nishtar Road, New Town, PIB Colony, Saddar, Clifton and Keamari areas and violators were apprehended and unauthorised SIMs of different mobile companies had also been seized.

A PTA spokesman said that the operation against illegal sellers of SIMs would shortly be extended to other cities and towns of the province.—APP
