SAHIWAL, May 9: Two goods compartments of Rohri Passenger (316-Down) derailed at Yousafwala railway station at around 3pm on Friday. No causality was, however, reported from the scene.

The train runs between Lahore and Rohri and is mostly used for goods transportation. The bogies derailed while shunting and fell on main Lahore-Karachi track because of which rail traffic remained suspended till the filing of this report by 11pm. All trains have been withheld at Sahiwal and Okara railway stations.

The divisional officer concerned along with technical staff with heavy cranes and other equipment reached the spot at around 5pm.

“We expect that track will be cleared shortly,” Rahmatullah, a controller, told Dawn from Lahore control room late on Friday night.

RAPED: A boy allegedly raped a girl "S" when she was returning home from nearby fields in village 85/6-R on Thursday.

The Farid Town police have registered a case against suspect Bilal on the complaint of victim’s mother Ghulam Fatima.

Meanwhile, the Ghala Mandi police have registered a case against Muhammad Aslam, a resident of High Street, for giving a fake cheque of Rs400,000 to one Malik Arif.
