MINGORA, March 31: Three policemen were injured when a roadside bomb hit a police mobile van in Dheri area of tehsil Kabal on Monday.

Police said that a mobile van of Kanju police station was on a routine patrol when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the suspected militants on the Matta Road went off with a big bang.

The police vehicle was totally damaged, injuring three policemen who were rushed to the district headquarters hospital, Saidu Sharif.

No group has claimed responsibility. However, sources said, the attack targeted ASI Baidar Khan, who escaped unhurt in the blast.

He has been active in the ongoing raids and operations against the militants in Swat.

The security forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation after the blast.

A curfew was imposed after two suspected militants arrested from the area divulged some secrets during the interrogation.

On the same Matta Road in front of the Government High School Sherpalum, where security forces were deployed after the explosion, another IED device went off, smashing windowpanes of the school. However no casualty was reported.

It may be recalled that the security forces had left the school 20 days back.

Yet another IED blast hit a police post at Kokrai area early on Monday, partially damaging a nearby house of an army Hawaldar.

A bomb planted by the suspected militants on Matta Road, between Upper Bandai and Nengolai villages, was defused by the bomb disposal squad.
