AKU, Iqra win basketball ties

KARACHI, Feb 23: The Aga Khan University and Iqra University earned full points by notching up convincing victories against their respective opponents in the Inter-university zone F basketball tournament which got underway on Saturday at the UBL Sports Complex.

The Aga Khan University overwhelmed hosts Sir Syed University 64-23 after enjoying a 32-14 lead at the breather.

Noman turned out to be the principal scorer for winners with 21 points. He was ably assisted by Salman (12), Umer (10) and Adil (10). Bilal Ahmed and Rakey Shamsi scored 9 and 8 points, respectively, for the losers.

Earlier, Iqra University outplayed IBT (Biztek) University 43-4 in a one-sided match.

Saad Mohsin emerged as the top scorer with 15 points followed by Hasan Ali 14. The losers managed to reduce the deficit in the last quarter of the match.

Sunday’s fixtures:

Hamdard University v PAF KIET 2.00pm; Karachi University v Aga Khan University 4.00pm; Iqra University v winner of Hamdard/PAF KIET 5.00pm.
