PESHAWAR, April 12: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has said that the referendum drive of Gen Pervez Musharraf will cost the public exchequer over Rs25 million.

In a press release issued here on Thursday a PPP spokesman termed the expenses a burden on the poor economy of the country.

He asked the chief election commissioner to take notice of this lavish spending of the hard-earned public  money. On the one hand, the government was pressing different sections of the society to pay taxes, but on the other the whole money was going down the drain, he added.
