SANGHAR, Feb 7: A man was killed and two others were injured when a stone-laden truck overturned and fell on them on M. A. Jinnah Road here on Thursday.

The truck was going on the road when part of a newly-built sewerage line collapsed. As a result, the truck’s wheels plunged into the collapsed sewerage line and the vehicle overturned.

Passersby rushed to the place of the accident and pulled out the victims but till then Azhar, 30, had died. Allah Rakhio and Ashiq, belonging to

Umerkot and labourers by profession, were retrieved in injured condition and taken to a hospital.

Later, shopkeepers and traders pulled down shutters of their shops and business establishments to protest against the municipal authorities.

The sewerage line was laid about a month ago at a cost of about Rs40 million.

ROBBERY: Passengers of a bus were looted by five robbers near Baan Mori in the Perumal area.

The robbers boarded the bus as passengers in Khipro.

When it reached near Baan Mori, they took out weapons, one of them took control of the steering and drove the bus to a link road.

There the robbers looted the passengers, including a Tableeghi party, fired at the tyres of the bus and fled in a car which was following the bus.
