LARKANA: SNF to take part in polls

LARKANA, Dec 19: Central Committee of Sindh National Front (SNF) has decided to participate in general elections, revising earlier decision of a boycott. The committee met here on Wednesday. Mumtaz Ali Bhutto chaired the meeting.

“Despite reservations most political parties decided to participate in elections and it would have been meaningless for the SNF to stay out of the process,” said participants of meeting.

The party will support those whom it finds close to the concept of confederation and serving the soil, they said while endorsing the decision of party chief for extending support to Ms Ghinwa Bhutto chairperson PPP(Shaheed Bhutto) and Sardar Manzoor Ahmed Panhwar (PML-Q) contesting from NA-204 (Larkana-I) and PS-13 (Garih Khairo).

Most of the political parties in the run did not meet the criterion so it was decided to support individually. The Central Committee urged the Election Commission and the National Accountability Bureau for initiating inquiry into alleged misappropriation of Baitulmal and Zakat funds by leaders of the Sachal Alliance.

The left over funds were still being used and offered as political bribe to voters, the committee said. It held responsible pro-government landlords for fresh wave of lawlessness in the province.

The SNF called for action against such elements so that peace could be restored and expressed concern over increased flour prices. It held responsible the previous and caretaker governments for price hike trapping the poor who were already reeling under the burden of corruption and lawlessness. It expressed grief over the train accident near Mehrabpur.—BoC
