HYDERABAD, Dec 18: Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (Retd) Abdul Qadir Halepoto on Monday stressed the public and private educational institutions and teachers to provide competitive and quality education in science and technical skills to put the nation on the road to progress.

He said during an address at the 46th Annual Parents Day of Cadet College Petaro that the country needed to produce skilled and trained manpower with sound character to be able to respond to the challenges of time and fight unemployment and poverty. It had become inevitable for the educational institutions to keep pace with rapidly changing world. Sindh government had invested a large chunk of its budget in the development of infrastructure and improvement in education sector, but the efforts would succeed when the other stakeholders like teaching community, parents and students responded positively with a sense of responsibility, he said.

He said that the country was rich in natural resources and hard working people and it only required scientific skill and technical knowledge for proper exploitation of the resources not only to put the country on the road to progress but also to eradicate the menace of illiteracy, poverty and unemployment.

He said that the world had become a global village where no nation could survive without competitive technical knowledge and skilled manpower. “The educational institutions and teaching community will have to help the country meet these challenges.”
