KARACHI: ANP rally against emergency

KARACHI, Nov 12: Sindh chapter of the Awami National Party (ANP) has announced that it will hold a protest demonstration on at 4:30pm at Bacha Khan Chowk, Banaras, on Tuesday against imposition of emergency, media curbs and crackdown on political workers, lawyers and journalists.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Sindh ANP at Bacha Khan Markaz on Monday.

Speaking at the meeting, ANP Sindh chief Shahi Syed condemned harassment of journalists, lawyers and political activists, and criticized the rulers for curbing basic human rights through emergency laws. Citing example of Swat Valley, he said extremism always flourished in dictatorial rule.—PPI
