KARACHI, March 26: A 15-year-old boy was run over by an unidentified vehicle in New Karachi on Tuesday.

Police said an unidentified vehicle knocked down Amir on Chaudhary Fazal Elahi Road near UP Mor. The boy was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The vehicle drove away after the accident.

Amir was a student of class nine and resident of Sector 11-A, New Karachi.

A teenager was seriously injured in a road accident in Clifton.

Police said Ayaz, aged 13, was injured in a hit-and-run accident near the Clifton bridge.

The victim was crossing the main road when an unidentified vehicle knocked him down and sped away. The boy was rushed to the JPMC where he was admitted.

Doctors at the hospital said both the legs of the boy had been badly damaged in the accident.

One person died and 20 others were injured when a bus overturned near Hub on late Sunday night. Din Mohammed died on the spot.

Some of the injured have been identified as Ameeruddin, Shakeel, Mohammed Rafiq, Akhtar and Sharif.

A large number of passengers were returning from Shah Noorani on the overloaded bus. Most of the passengers belonged to Lyari and adjoining localities.

Edhi sources said the bus, JA-6995, was coming from Shah Noorani in Balochistan when it overturned near Hub the Chowki.

The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital. Later, several seriously injured passengers were referred to Civil Hospital in Karachi.
