KOHAT, Oct 30: Police have registered a case against unknown persons for blowing up an electricity tower after resolving the issue of jurisdiction with the Frontier Region (FR) administration.

Initially, there was a dispute between police and the FR administration over the jurisdiction of the case. According to the FR administration, the incident took place in the jurisdiction of Jangle Khel police station, but police did not agree and refused to register the case.

Later, the tribal administration registered the case at the Saddar police station.

Police charged the unknown saboteurs with blowing up tower number 120 in Sheikhan area on the border between Kohat and the FR on sunday.

The complaint filed by a Wapda official said the attackers had caused a loss of Rs1.5 million to the department.

In 2005 also, Wapda had repaired tower number 117 in Bazid Khel area of Darra Adam Khel when it was damaged in a blast. Authorities removed two bombs from the tower.

Meanwhile, the Kohat assistant political agent said in a statement on Tuesday that when the tower was damaged in a blast last year, the dispute over the jurisdiction had been solved.

He said a team of Wapda officials, FR administration and police had visited the blast site and determined the jurisdiction by observing its flow after pouring water on to the mountain.

Since the water travelled towards Kohat, it meant that the area was part of the settled district of Kohat and not of the FR , he said.
