KARACHI, Sept 19: Judge Syed Aley Maqbool Rizvi of an accountability court adjourned on Wednesday the hearing of three references filed by the National Accountability Bureau against the accused Irshad Ahmed Shaikh, Abdul Hakeem Makhdoom, Pir Bukhsh Solangi and Abdul Sattar Mandokhel till Oct 22.

According to the references (No 8, 9 and 10/2005), the accused have misappropriated about Rs168.81million by misuse of authority and through corrupt practices.

Meanwhile, another accountability court put off the hearing of reference (No 15/2005) against a former bank cashier Syed Iqbal Kazmi and others till Oct 2.

According to the reference, about Rs31.626 million deposited by consumers in respect of water and conservancy bills of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board at Barkat-i-Haideri branch of the Habib Bank from 1988 to 2000 was not credited to the KWSB and the amount was embezzled by the accused along with the former in charge of bank’s utility counter, Mohammad Amin Qureshi and KWSB inspector Abdul, Ghani Mansoori.
