NAWABSHAH, Sept 1: Family members of the two sisters, who were allegedly tortured by their husbands (both brothers), staged a demonstration and observed token hunger strike outside the press club here on Saturday.

Pir Ameeruddin and Pir Muzaffar, father and brother of Ms Rukhsana and Ms Gulshan along with other family members, staged a protest demonstration for the arrest of accused brothers Pir Tariq and Pir Imtiaz.

The protesters, carrying placards and banners, raised slogans against police.

Sarfaraz Memon and Sarwar Arejo of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Asghar Chandio of PML-F, Zafar Pathan of Pakhtoon Welfare, Lal Mohammed Qureshi of PML-Q and Jam Baghi of STP also joined the protesters to express their solidarity with the family.

The father and uncle of the victim sisters claimed that the police were supporting the criminals and avoiding their arrest even after the registration of an FIR.

They further said that the accused were continuously threatening them and pressuring them to withdraw the case. They demanded immediate arrest of the accused.

Meanwhile Abdul Wahab, a police officer at investigation wing of A-Section police station, informed that the accused have obtained pre-arrest bail from court.

It may be recalled here that Ms Rukhsana and Ms Gulshan were allegedly tortured and beaten by their husbands Pir Tariq and Pir Imtiaz and were admitted to Nawabshah Medical College Hospital where Ms Gulshan miscarried five months baby.
