MARDAN, Aug 27: The police on Monday claimed to have killed a proclaimed offender in an encounter on Sunday. Police officials said that a man had identified Dilnawaz of Qamargai, a village 13 kilometres away from here, who was wanted in a number of murder cases. He was also involved in extortion, they said.

On Sunday, the police said, he visited Azad Gul in Sawal Dher. The police was informed who besieged the house he was visiting. He was killed in the ensuing shootout.—Correspondent
