KARACHI, July 3: Sindh Local Government Minister Mohammad Hussain has directed the Sindh Local Government Board (SLGB) to ensure postings of the Sindh Council Unified Grade (SCUG) cadre officers against the sanctioned posts in various local bodies’ institutions.

He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting of the SLGB. Secretary Local Government Fazlur Rehman, Special Secretary Local Government (Technical) Laeeq Ahmed Khan were also present on the occasion.

The minister said that it was necessary to ensure posting of relevant employees as they possessed vast working experience at various levels in the local bodies’ institutions.

He made it clear that if any nazim refused to accept the transfer and posting of officials, action would be initiated against him.

The minister asked the SLGB to contact all the TMAs in the province and obtain details of officers of other cadres working on the SCUG cadre posts. They should be directed to fill SCUG posts with officers in this cadre, he added.

He also ordered computerisation of employment history of all officers and staff of the local government department.

The minister warned that corrupt officials and staff would not be spared and there would be no place for them in the department. He observed that the department's image suffered by the actions of a few employees which would not be allowed.

Secretary Local Government Fazlur Rehman urged the department's officials should work as a team to improve the department’s image.

He called for strict observance of rules and precise implementation of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance (SLGO) to ensure effective working of district governments, TMAs and UCs, throughout the province.

Mr Rehman asked the SLGB to make special arrangements for the immediate clearance of pension cases and other dues of the retired employees. He warned that no slackness in this regard would be tolerated.—APP
