Tahir in seniors tennis semis

KARACHI, June 28: Tahir Gul overcame a stiff opposition from Rafi Darbari (Hyderabad) in three sets on his way to making it to the last four in 35-plus singles of the third National Seniors Tennis Championship on Thursday.

Tahir dropped the second set to post 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win over his opponent in the second round match played at the Karachi Club courts.

He inflicted 6-1, 6-1 defeat on Suhail Ahmed in the opener on Wednesday night.

Joining him in the last four was Ejaz Sarhadi who humbled Army’s Ijaz Ahmed 6-3, 6-0 in another second round encounter.

Tahir Gul bt Rafi Darbari (Hyderabad) 6-2, 3-6, 6-2; Ejaz Sarhadi bt Ijaz Ahmed (Army) 6-3, 6-0.

45 plus singles (first round):

Gul Hameed bt M. Khalid Rehmani 6-1 (retd).
