MINGORA, June 19: The students of the Saidu Medical College have urged the government to grant their institution an affiliation with the Peshawar University (PU).

Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, scores of final year students said their college had been granted an affiliation with the Malakand University, which has no standing among reputed educational institutions.

The students said the newly-established Gomal Medical College (GMC) had been granted an affiliation with the University of Peshawar instead of Gomal University. Likewise, the Ayub Medical College was affiliated with the University of Peshawar instead of Hazara University.

They added that they could face problems in receiving higher education because of less importance of the degree they would getting from the university they were affiliated to.

The protesting students demanded that the Saidu Medical College be affiliated to the University of Peshawar to ensure their bright future.
