KARACHI, June 7: A man was killed by unknown persons apparently in a house robbery attempt in Al Falah on Thursday. Police said Shakil was in his house in Anwar-i-Ibrahim Society in the Al Falah area when at around 4pm four to five men barged into his house and reportedly demanded cash and valuables at gunpoint. The occupants of the house resisted. They shot him and fled.

Police took the body to the Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem.

ROBBED: The wife of a Dawn staffer was deprived of her jewellery by armed men in Landhi on Thursday.

Tariq Ali Khan was returning home with his wife when unknown armed suspects on a motorcycle intercepted them on the main road in Zamanabad, Landhi No 4.

“They took out a pistol and demanded the gold bangles my wife was wearing. They checked me for the cellphone but could not lay their hands on it as it was in my back pocket,” Tariq said. He said the bangles were worth about Rs70,000.

ILLEGAL CONSTRUCTIONS: A number of illegal constructions in Saddar and Lyari Towns were razed and sealed today by KBCA demolition teams, adds APP.

Eight godowns constructed in place of parking spaces in the basement of Shah Jehan Electronic Market were sealed.
