ISLAMABAD, May 29: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Punjab Governor Lt Gen (retd) Khalid Maqbool held separate meetings with President Pervez Musharraf on Monday and Tuesday and discussed with him the political situation in the country.

According to sources, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had a meeting with the president at around midnight on Monday after which Mr Maqbool arrived and met Gen Musharraf in his camp office.

What transpired in these high-profile meetings was not immediately known. However, it is presumed that the leaders from Punjab exchanged views with the president about the ongoing opposition movement, the judicial crisis and the ban on Imran Khan.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz held a meeting with the president on Tuesday morning, details of which were not made public.
