CHAKWAL May 5: Four persons were killed in separate incidents here on Saturday. In the first incident, two persons were killed and 11 others suffered multiple injuries on Chakwal-Sohawa Road on Saturday when a speedy wagon overturned some 10km from here.

The ill-fated wagon (LWC-4405) was on its way to Karachi from Gujar Khan when one of its tyres burst and it overturned near Rizwan Textile Mills in Chakwal.

The wagon driver, Farooq Ahmed, and another person, Mubin Ahmed, died on the spot. The injured were identified as Abdullah, Ayub, Nasir Mehmood, Tariq, Akhter Rashid, Ruqia Begum, Uzma Begum, Saleem Bibi, Uqba Begum, Gulshan Begum and Rashida Zafar.

DSP Patrolling Abdul Saleem rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the injured as well as the bodies to DHQ Hospital, Chakwal. Three of the injured who were in critical condition were shifted to Rawalpindi hospital.

Saddar Police Chakwal have registered a case and started investigation.

In another incident, an old man was run over by a car near Hastal village.

Fazal Dad, a resident of Bikhari Kallan village, was shifted to DHQ Hospital, Chakwal, where he died.

A case was registered by the Saddar Police Chakwal against the unknown driver on the complaint of Manzoor Hussain, the son of the deceased.

Meanwhile, Sajid Mehmood, a waiter, was shot dead in Mohalla Islampura Chakwal over a minor dispute.

The wife of the deceased, Yasmeen, told the police that her husband had gone to a house to pay Rs500 to Sher Mohammad who was playing cards along with Nadeem Sarfraz, Ghafoor Imran and Tariq Mehmood. Sajid had an exchange of hot words with them during which Sher Mohammad took out a pistol and shot him dead.
