RAWALPINDI, May 4: Pakistan and Canada have reiterated their commitment to further broaden and strengthen bilateral ties and work together for promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan.

This was decided in a meeting between Secretary Defence Kamran Rasool and the visiting Canadian Assistant Deputy Defence Minister Vincent Rigby, says a press release issued here on Friday. Both sides exchanged views on the geo-strategic situation of the region with particular reference to Afghanistan. The secretary defence underlined the counter-terrorism measures taken by Pakistan.

He apprised the visitors of strict monitoring and surveillance regime enforced by Pakistan along its border with Afghanistan to prevent cross border movement of terrorists.

Mr Rigby appreciated Pakistan’s contribution and instrumental role in the war on terror.
