KARACHI, April 11: Punjab secured a narrow 2-1 victory over the talented Navy outfit to gain winning points in the squash men's team event at the National Games which commenced here on Wednesday at Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex (RKJK).

Farzan Rasheed drew first blood for the winners when he outplayed Navy's Naveed in straight sets in only 23 minutes. Navy leveled through Khayal Mohammad later who defeated Shoaib Hasan 3-1 in a 68-minute battle with a 3-9, 9-6, 10-8, 9-7 scoreline.

Aurangzaib, however, sealed another win for Punjab by winning the final against Adnan Khan with scores of 9-1, 9-4, 9-6 in 58 minutes.

Wapda won their first match, outclassing NWFP 3-0 while hosts Sindh enjoyed a bye in their first rounds in pool A.

The encounters at pool A also saw Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Army and HEC winning their matches with ease after overwhelming their opponents with similar match scores of 3-0.

PAF trounced Balochistan while Army outplayed Railways and HEC got rid of Police to win their opening match.
