HYDERABAD, March 17: Dominance of one political party in the district government had greatly helped run the city in a smooth manner and saved it from the difficulties caused by multi commands, said DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed on Saturday.

Speaking to a group of officers from the 34th Common Civil Services Academy, Walton Lahore at the Shahbaz Hall in Shahbaz Building he said that the devolution system was a public-oriented form of government, which had provided maximum empowerment to common people to get their problems solved at their doorsteps.

He said that the system had empowered people and their representatives were being taken on board in the process of executing development works at gross roots level.

Hyderabad was a culturally rich district and the city had rich ancient cultural heritage dating back to centuries, he said and added that the city was a peaceful hub of social, cultural, industrial and commercial activities.

Under the district’s development plan mega projects had been initiated to solve the nagging problems of water supply, drainage and communication, he said and added that the city would become a model district after the completion of development projects.

Replying to a question about working relationship between public representative and government functionaries under this system, the DCO said that he and his team enjoyed cordial relations with public representatives.

The ruling politicians who were mostly non-technical persons did their job under the technical guidance of officers concerned and technocrats.
