KARACHI, March 14: Former law minister and prominent lawyer Khalid Anwer has strongly refuted an allegation that Mr Fakhruddin Ebrahim and he will be representing the government in the case pertaining to the Chief Justice. He has pointed out in a statement that this appears to be part of a malicious campaign to mislead public opinion.

He has also regretted the fact that Mr Naeem Bokhari in his open letter has incorrectly and unjustifiably claimed that he had appeared in a case in the Supreme Court to which reference has been made in the open letter.

Mr Anwer has pointed out that he did not appear in the case in the Supreme Court to which Mr Bokhari has referred and that this can be confirmed by a perusal of the court order which would show that Mr Qadir Sayeed has appeared.

He has also strongly condemned the action of the government in placing the Chief Justice and his family under house arrest.
